Travel is more competitive than rec. Rec season also consists of 1 game per every few days or once a week. Travel will compete in tournaments which will only last 1 to 2 days, but have up to 8 games in a day! 8 being probably the most. So to answer your question, the only difference would be the level of competition.

BTW I ♥ TRAVEL SOFTBALL!

A select softball team is one that you have to try out for. Usually these teams are also called travel teams and dues are paid to be on their roster. Tournament softball is where organized teams go to play other organized teams. Recreational softball is where you sign up in a league and players are distributed to teams that will then play against each other. No try outs for recreational softball they take anyone and everyone and is usually for beginners. Select softball is much more competitive.
