Mites are kids that are under age 8. Mites are somtimes split into minimites and reg. mites. Minimites (i think) are under 5. Mites are under 8. I think in order to play in a league you must be at least 3. Depending on the league it may be 4.

In Minnesota, the mite level is for kids ages 9 and under. There is also a mini-mite for kids who are 7 and under. The squirt level is for ages 9 and 10. In some states, small towns may decide to combine the squirt, mite, and mini-mite levels.

Field Hockey players range in age from 5 to 50 and beyond in most areas of the world. There are international tournaments played for by age groups from at least as young as Under-16 up to Masters (50+).

In USA hockey (I think in Canada, as well), there is Midget 16U (15 and 16) and Midget 18U (17 and 18). Players can play up an age level but cannot play down an age level.
