While a roster changes throughout the season, the top 5 rarely changed in the Yankee lineup in 1998: Knoblauch 2B Jeter SS O'Neill RF Williams CF Martinez 1B They used a lot of people in LF and at DH and, while Posada was the starting catcher, Girardi played a lot. Brosius at 3B was regular as clockwork, but his spot in the line up depended a lot on those other three spots. On Opening Day, the bottom four were: Davis DH Curtis LF Brosius 3B Girardi C But in the first game of the World Series the bottom four were: Martinez (with Davis 5th instead) Brosius 3B Posada C Ledee LF However, The regular contributions throughout the season of Strawberry at DH and Raines in the OF should not be forgotten either.
The Yankees lineup has changed since the season began. Brett Gardner spent time on the disabled list, while A-Rod and Cano have flip-flopped in the batting order. It's safe to say that throughout the year the lineup will change multiple times, using several different players on the roster.
This was the Yankees lineup for Opening Day (2012):
Currently, the Yankees lineup, with Alex Rodriguez and Brett Gardner on the disabled list, looks something like this:
