If you have a sliding pad on your leg that goes over your knee, you can take it off if you want before going out to field.
Personally, I find it easier to just keep it on. There isn't really enough time between innings to slide it on and off. It is supposed to cover your knee, so if you pull it down so it is resting over your shin, you can just adjust it when you are up to bat next inning.
Again, it's all about preference.
Friction burn
It depends if you are sliding a lot but you should because it gives more protection.
you wear a sliding pad under your pants and on top of your socks. if u put it over your pants then your pants will rub on your leg and give u a rash.

well the game pad is now available for the versa and it slides so I expect there to be a sliding keyboard as well.
You should be able to go to any major sporting goods store in your town and be able to find them.
Softball personally is one of my favorite sports! It is very fun to play! Seriously there is nothing like that rush when you are running home from third base! Especially if you have to do a little sliding!

well if a player has the ball and is about to tag you you can slide under the ball. if its a play at home and the catcher has the ball, you slide in and knock the catcher down the ball pops out of the glove you are safe, sliding can also prevent injuries. well you slide in at home! if it is close and you are not sure if you are going to get out you should slide in! make sure that you have a sliding pad! :)if not you will get bloody knees:( and if there is a play at home and you dont slide you will be out!:(
