Prop is undoubtedly one of, if not the most important positions on the Rugby field, okay maybe i am a bit biased considering i am a prop, but the unseen work is incredible and the work of props cannot be questioned considering the superstar back players wouldn't be able to function without the solid ball presented by the front row ;)

In both codes there are 4 props on the field at any one time. 2 from each team. In the event of a front row injury to the hooker a sub prop is used however, the scrum becomes uncontested (neither team pushes for the ball ownership)
A Prop in rugby refers to the loose-head prop + tight-head prop, numbers 1 and 3, they are members of the front row in the scrum and are usually the heaviest players on the team.
Can you please clarify the question as it is somewhat uninformative to allow for any response
