The school was originally an agricultural college so they called themselves "aggies." Now we are all Aggies! :)
there are alot of schools with the mascot of an Aggie. Texas A&M, Utah State, New Mexico State. An Aggie is an agriculture student. Schools with Aggies as mascots either are, or used to be a school with farming and agriculture programs and majors.
