Tri-City soccer players have a new opportunity to train with some professional, licensed coaches through the newly formed Tivoli FC and Tivoli Youth Academy.

Tivoli FC is designed for male and female soccer players from age 7 - 18 who desire to learn to play soccer at a high level. Developed by Philip Reid, a recent transplant from Jamaica, and Erin "Kelly" Kelly. The club aims to provide top-level training for local players.

Reid, assistant women's soccer coach at Embry Riddle University (AZ) and Head Boys Varsity Coach at Bradshaw Mtn High, played soccer growing up in Jamaica, and later played at the college level for Palm Beach Atlantic University (FL). Reid currently holda a NSCAA National Goalkeeping, and Advanced National Licences.

Reid works primarily with the older players - currently those who are not yet old enough for high school soccer - but he plans to include high school athletes when their season is finished. At this time, Reid trains with his players twice weekly, but eventually plans to train up to three times a week.

Kelly currently works with the younger girls in the club, and has formed a competitive team which will travel to tournaments in the spring. The girls U12 currently train twice a week in Prescott and Prescott Valley.

The Tivoli Academy's goals include creating a safe and challenging learning environment to push young players to their maximum potential. In the end, the Tivoli staff hopes to develop players to play on local high school teams, and later at the collegiate level, according to Reid. Beyond learning the strategies and technical nature of soccer, however, it is the club's goal to develop and nurture positive ethics and qualities that will serve the players in every aspect of their lives.

As Tivoli FC progresses and grows, membership will be selective, based upon tryouts and recruiting efforts in the area. Reid guarantees that players in the program will be challenged and given the opportunity to progress to higher levels .
