He was not a sports announcer for ABC. He was the Sales Manager for the Greenville Sales Office of WLOS-TV, The ABC affiliate. The station is based out of Asheville, NC and owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group. I was one of his account executives. I believe he is now working for the FOX affiliate in Greenville, also in sales.
