Baseball is often played in series of 2, 3, or 4 games. It means that one team one two games and lost one game (2-1) while the other team of course went (1-2). If they split the first two games (1-1), the third game is called the rubber match because it determines who won the series. Phrases: Team took 2 out of 3. Best 2 out of 3 wins.

It means three balls, two strikes; also known as a 'full count'. One more ball and the batter will walk (head to first base). One more strike and the batter will be out.
