Many orienteers wear a special loose fitting polyester o-suit in club colours. It is advisable (and I believe, in the UK rules) that you wear long sleved top and trousers. Additionally studded footwear is worn for additional grip. Optionally, some runners wear bramble protection in the form of shin guards.
