You have to have school spirit and be really dedicated, but the main thing is to just have fun with it. Believe in yourself and your teammates, and always try to get along with everybody on the team don't cause drama its not healthy for the whole squad.
Make sure that you always keep your motions TIGHT!! Keep them nice and neat! Almost anything can look good if you do it right. Also, if you mess up make sure you don't let your crowd know!! How would they know if you were supposed to do it or not! lol Trust me I am an experienced cheerleader.
It depends on the school many will require you to be able to do a back handspring, but some will not. My school required us to preform the dance cheer and chant. those were all taught at tryout clinics. Make sure you motions are sharp and you smile. Toetouches are also important. point your toes, don't reach for them and don't lean forward. Good luck
It is useful to learn a few names of moves, stunts and jumps as this all helps when becoming a better cheerleader !

Practice
You know you are a cheerleader when you have a passion for it. You love to practice, you think you have no purpose without it. If someone else tells you to try out, you probably aren't one. Only you can know if you're meant to be a cheerleader.
