The American Athletic Conference (AAC), formerly known as the Big East.
The University of Connecticut was one of the last remaining members of the old Big East, along with Cincinnati and South Florida. The conference dissolved after four schools (Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Louisville and Notre Dame) joined the ACC, Rutgers moved to the Big 10, and the "Catholic 7" (Georgetown, Villanova, St. John's, Seton Hall, Providence, Marquette and DePaul) formed a new, Basketball-only conference (keeping the Big East name).
The AAC will add several schools over the next few years, including SMU, Houston, Memphis, Central Florida, Temple, Tulane, East Carolina, Tulsa and Navy.
