What classes do you have to take in high school to become a average soccer player?

Exposure! The more the scouts and coaches know about you the better. There are plenty of great players that go nowhere because they don't have the exposure. So talk to your parents and coaches and let them know your intentions so they can help you start with the recruitment. You will of course need skills but the skills wont matter if the coaches never see you. Playing in a club team will help a lot not only gets you more practice but more exposure, but high schools usually have better or easier connections plus the high school schedule is during the college offseason (at least down here in Texas). Diffrent coaches are looking for diffrent things in each position so talking with a few coaches or watching their games will let you see their style of play and if you will work well in their system. Geting good grades in high school will help a lot then coaches don't have to pour as much money into you to get you a scholarship. Get an SAT or ACT score down in the books so you can go into the coaches office with something to show them and they will know you care about getting into college and makes them think your responsble and wont fail out wasting their time and money. Once you've decided that playing is somthing you want to do you might as well register for the NCAA clearing house not all colleges are in the NCAA but registering wont hurt incase you do go to an NCAA school. Once you've been recruited by a school and theyve scouted you they will usually ask you to come in for a tryout to evaluate you against other college players and introduce you to the team. Some tryouts are very formal with lots of recruits there and doing various drills and scrimages to weed people out and others are informal usually just you or a few other recruits doing the normal practice with the team. It is very important that you introduce yourself to and get to know the players many times coaches will ask what the players thought of the recruit. My coach wasnt even at my tryout and relied on the captians opinions of me. Also don't just go to one tryout or focus on one school look at all your options and meet with everyone. The more schools that are talking to you the more valuable you will apear and thus increasing your value and you never know that last school you try out for may be the one for you.

i would think that any school that has where you can play soccer would be great as long as you have an education; just in case.

You don't need a degree. You just have to be good at soccer and be noticed by a big soccer team.
