The two types of softball are:

Slowpitch- which is where the picture kind of lunges and tosses the ball underhand

Fastpitch- unlike slowpitch, the pitcher actually jumps/leaps forwards, and does a complete circle motion with their arm. These pitchers are quite a bit faster than slow pitch- the average speed is probably around 55-60 mph for high school level players.
