Start out with your opposite hand that you write with holding the ball. If your right handed hold with your left hand and vice versa. Hold the ball slightly across your body so when you swing with your main hand, you hit the ball directly underneath. Next position your feet. If your right handed start out with your left foot in front. Switch if your left-handed. Now, you are in position to hit the ball. Start with a fist, with the thumb on the outside of your fingers, so your wrist is exposed. When you swing you step with your right foot if your right-handed and so forth. Now all you have to do is swing your hand to hit the ball and step. If you don't get it the first time, try again. If you don't think you have enough power try hitting the ball on the top of your fist. Remember, though. NEVER hit the ball with your knuckles. If you dont get it just try again. Pretty soon it will be flying over the net.
There is the over-hand serve and the under-handserve. The over-hand is when you hit the volleyball with your palm or fist over your head. The under-hand is when you hit the volleyball with your palm or fist under your head. The point of both of the serves are to get the ball over the net and in between the out lines.

There are two types of serves in volleyball: Overhand and Underhand.Overhand: The overhand serve is just as it sounds, you throw the ball up in the air and then you hit it hard to make it over to the other side. This serve is for more experienced players, because it takes a little bit to get the hang of it. You also need plenty of arm muscle to make it over.Underhand: Underhand serving is when you hold the volleyball in your left or right hand (it depends on what your prominent hand is, if you're left handed you use hold the volleyball in your right hand, if right handed you use your left) then you swing it with your prominent hand. Those are the two basically popular serves in volleyball, but it also depends on what serve you prefer.
When the volleyball impacts on your hand, the volleyball's force will be absorbed.
