A Ball is termed as a no ball if:

  • The bowlers foot lands at any spot outside the runner up crease
  • The ball is fully tossed up and is above the waist height of the batsman
  • The ball is a bouncer and is above the head height of the batsman

Furthermore, if a delivery is ruled a no ball for the first reason, the next delivery is declared a "free hit", meaning the batsman cannot be dismissed from it except by those means allowed during a no ball, such as run out.

One of the general rules of T20 cricket is that in a single innings, each of the bowlers can bowl a maximum of only one-fifth of the total overs.
