Things you do wrong in the game; not obeying the rules. An infringement could be not standing three feet away while defending the person with the ball (obstruction), contacting other players/the person with the ball (contact), stepping while holding the ball (stepping), bouncing the ball to yourself (replay) throwing the ball over a third (over a third) or not staying in your designated position/ going into the wrong third or place (offside) etc.

A penalty pass is different from a free pass in netball because: A free pass is awarded to the opposing team because the infringement made by the other team only affected one player (stepping, replay, breaking) BUT A penalty pass is awarded to the opposing team because the infringement made by the other team affected two or more players (contact, obstruction)
