By European, do you mean a player born and raised in a European country or do you mean a player playing in a European league? I will take it you mean players born in Europe.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo - The undisputed best player in Europe, he has everything you need to be a great footballer: strength, speed, skill, accuracy, power and determination. I like to think of him as a football machine.
2. Steven Gerrard - This decision may be slightly biased as I am a devoted Liverpool supporter but I truly believe Gerrard is one of the best players in Europe, if not the world. He is still in the prime of his career and he almost single-handedly led Liverpool to the 2005 Champions League and the 2006 FA Cup with his skill and leadership qualities.
3. Didier Drogba - Unplayable when he is on form, he has immense strength, great tactical awareness and an exquisite shot. No defender likes to come up against him because of these attributes.
Thanks for reading.
(The reason I didn't include the likes of Xavi or Iniesta is because I rarely watch them play so I am in no position to judge them)
At the end of the day it's a matter of opinion but to me these are the top 3 players. In the number three spot it would have to be Wayne Ronney who is currently playing for Manchester United he was born on the 24th October 1985. Since joining them in 2004 after his spell at Everton for 2 seasons he joined Manchester united for 25.6 million and since then has made 238 appearances and has scored 118 goals. He plays nationally for England as well and has scored 28 goals from 79 appearances. Annually Rooney earns 18 million including sponsorship deals. During his career he has achieved several trophies including the player of the year award for England twice in 2008 and 2009, he also was awarded the player's player of the year award in 2009-2010 whilst also being awarded the footballer of the year award that same season. In second spot it's Cristiano Ronaldo who is currently playing for Real Madrid he was born on the 5th February 1985. Since joining them on the 1st July 2009 after having a spell at Manchester United for four years he joined Real Madrid for a record breaking 80 million pounds and since then has made 84 appearances and has scored 90 goals. He plays nationally for Portugal and has made 87 appearances and scored 32 goals. Annually he earns 12 million dollars. During his career he has achieved many trophies here are a few: in 2007 he got the player's player of the year award, footballer of the year award and FIFA world player of the year he has also got many other trophies since then. Finally in the number one spot is the one and only Lionel Messi who is currently playing for Barcelona was born on the 24th June 1987 after playing for their youth team for a while. Then made his debut in the 2004-2005 season and since then has made 198 appearances whilst scoring 142 goals. He plays nationally for Argentina and has made 66 appearances whilst scoring 19 goals. Annually he earns a staggering 29.7 million. His greatest achievement was FIFA player of the year. So I hope this has helped you make your mind up!
