Yes! It's just like Golf. There's a stick with a little thing on the end to direct where the ball goes and you hold onto it and whack it. It's exactly the same. The golf hole where you aim is the equivalent of a net. And it's kind of like a hockey penalty when your ball falls into the lake. And players aren't allowed to delay in golf for no reason.
Both take a lot of teamwork and both sports you need to score goals to win.

Why do some people like hockey when basketball is more exciting?
Whether you like hockey or basketball is , of course, a personal preference. As an ice hockey fan, I love the speed, body contact, violent nature, etc., of hockey which basketball doesn't have. But I follow basketball because it has a different skill set and is exciting in its own way. So my recommendation is: enjoy both for what each sport has to offer!!
