Charlie Justice was born in Asheville, North Carolina on May 18, 1924 and passed away October 17, 2003. He was twice runner up for the Heisman Trophy (1948 and 1949) while playing college ball at the University of North Carolina. He set a then NCAA record with 4,883 yards total offense during his career at North Carolina. The record lasted for 45 years. He scored 64 TDs while at North Carolina. He was the first athlete named to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. He spent four seasons as a running back with the Washington Redskins. He scored 10 career TDs and had career numbers of 1,284 rushing yards and 962 receiving yards. He was voted one of the 70 greatest Redskins in 2002.
