It all depends on the age/regulations of the league

These are the requirements for most leagues:

Jock strap

Shin guards

Breezers/pants

Skates

Shoulder pads

elbow guards

gloves

helmet/usually facemask

mouthguard

neck guard-usually in youth leagues

don't forget your stick
Skates, helmet, gloves, cup or jock, shinpads, hockey socks, hockey pants, elbowpads, shoulderpads, neckguard, jersey and stick.

Player-Skates, Shin pads, can, socks, shoulder pads, hockey pants, elbow pads, jersey, helmet, gloves, stick. Some people also wear visor or cage on their helmets by choice or by league rules. Some also where a neck guard, after a guy in the NHL (cant rmmbr his name) got his throat cut open by a skate (he did live).

Goalie-Goalie skates (most goalies wear these, but in pond hockey, shinny hockey, or fun hockey you will find some that wear regular skates), goalie pads, socks, goalie can, hockey pants (goalie type), monkey suite (also known as a chest protector or other names), jersey, gloves (one blocker, one catcher), goalie helmet. Some goalies also wear a goalie neck guard, which is a curved plastic shield that hangs in front of their neck from their helmet.

you need a helmet,shoulder pads,elbow pads,neck gaurd,mouth gaurd,pants,shin pads,a cup protecter,skates,gloves and a stick

Important hockey equipment includes a jock strap, shin pads, large socks (to go over the shin pads), shoulder pads, elbow pads, jersey, gloves, helmet, hockey stick, and, of course, skates. Don't forget your gym bag to bring all of these items in.

Skaters wear: a cup or jock (pelvic protector for females) for their private parts, skates (feet), shin pads (ankles to top of knee), pants or breezers (knee to hips), shoulder pads (chest, shoulders, back, upper arms, and maybe stomach), elbow pads (upper arms down to forearms), glovers (forearms to hands), and a helmet. Goalies: All their equipment is more padded, but essentially the same. The leg pads are much much bigger than shins pads. The chest protector covers the stomach, chest, and entire arm all in one piece of equipment. They wear a glove (catcher) on one hand and a blocker on the other hand (hand that holds the stick).

Depends what type of hockey you're playing.

Minimum for Ice Hockey:

Shoulder pads, gloves, shin guards, elbow pads, a helmet, breezers, hockey socks (to cover shin guards) ice skates, compression shorts that will hold a cup or a jockstrap and a cup, a hockey stick, ice hockey skates

For roller, all of the same except:

No shoulder pads, roller hockey pants and an inline girdle instead of breezers, no hockey socks, roller hockey skates instead of ice hockey skates

For ice hockey goalie:

Goalie pants, a goalie groin protector and cup, a monkey suit, leg pads, a goalie helmet with a throat protector (preferably), goalie ice hockey skates, a goalies glove, a blocker, and a goalies stick

For roller hockey goalie:

Same as ice hockey goalie except roller hockey goalie skates

For ice hockey:

An ice rink with nets on both sides of the rink and a puck

For roller hockey:

A roller rink with nets on both sides of the rink and a roller puck (yes, they are different from ice picks. They're made to reduce friction and slide better on floors.)

For street hockey:

Some sort of net, a ball or puck, and a stick

I think I covered a good portion of it. If I missed anything, I apologize. It's a great sport, have fun!
