The highest scoring game in NBA history was a December 13, 1983 matchup between the Detroit Pistons and the Denver Nuggets in Denver. The final score after three overtimes was 186-184 with Detroit on top.

Second to that was in Hershey, PA on March 2, 1962. The Philadelphia Warriors defeated the New York Knickerbockers 169 to 147.

The third highest scoring game was between the San Diego Conquistadors and the New York Nets on February 14, 1975. San Diego won in the fourth overtime 176-166.

A December 7, 2006 matchup in East Rutherford, NJ between the at-home Nets and the Phoenix Suns proved to be the fourth highest scoring game with a score of 161-157 with the Suns on top.

You missed one, three overtimes in the Milwaukee Bucks versus the San Antonio Spurs, 1982, Spurs 171, Bucks 166. I was at that game. That would make it 2nd in all time. March 6, 1982.
