The answer below is great but the "zone' is used often and teams have developed tactics to break the zone and re-create the flow of the game to their advantage. Pairing off evenly is good but "Man on Man' tactic is just as effective. You defend them the same way a GK would a GS; turning them away from the play of the ball and forcing them to run away towards the outside of the court; running right up to the transverse line where they will end up off side, or force a held ball. The "man on man" tactic shows endurance in your team and will also show that you are working "as a team" and not marking 2 players throughout the court. Pick up players as they move through the court and don't forget to let other team players know by communicating with them. This will force the opposition to look for players behind them and making them re-set the play and give your team more options to turn the ball over to your advantage. You can use a tactic called the zone tactic where you fill the space or a tactic called one on one which basically means that you pair off evenly throughout the court =] Tactics would be to get into space so your team mate can pass the ball to you without getting it intercepted. Also keep passing the ball down to your team mate's goal attack or the goal shoot. Also mark the opposite team members to intercept their passes. When your marking always stay with the person your marking. Its better if you have taller players to put them up defence end and the smaller players in positions like WA, GA, C because they should be harder to mark.

when you are defending a player, stand on your good defending side, with one of your feet in between her legs, and one on the outside. also look diagonally between the ball and your player, so you have view of your player and view of the ball.
when your shooting make sure your balanced before shooting, then aim about 30cm about the ring, most of the time it goes in.
when your setting up for centre play make sure you are on the inside of your player, so you can run in front of them to get the ball
one Netball tactic is for at the centre pass the WA runs out and catches the ball and throws it down to the GA who is Just outside the ring GA passes to Gs and GS shoots.
Another tactic is when your defence has the ball up the other end line up down the centre and each run a different way.
Another is your GD runs out and gets the centre pass then your GA runs into the ring and GS runs out and receives the ball throwing it to the GA in the ring.
These won't work if you don't do them quick enough
If you're playing GA you should constantly be trying to get away from your GD, this will allow more passing/shooting opportunities. You should devise game plans with your teams WA for centre passes to see which way each of you will move to receive it. Another method is to assist your defence in removing the ball from the other teams shooting third. This can be done by working your way up to the third boundary and quickly sprinting back.
There are lots of tactics in netball for example....
1.keep your eye on the ball.
2.shout to your team mates to pass the ball to you if you are in a space.
3.try and always mark someone from the opposite team.
And many more...
