What NFL team was better last year the Miami Dolphins or the New England Patriots?

In 2008, both teams finished with a record of 11-5. The Miami Dolphins won the tie breaker with the Patriots qualifying for the playoffs while the Patriots had to watch playoff football from the comfort of their own homes. That being said, the Patriots were able to achieve a record of 11-5 despit losing their star quarterback Tom Brady in the very first game of the season. Brady was replaced by back up qb Matt Cassel. Given this, i think its fair to say that the Patriots were able to overcome these tough knocks, and in the end were the better team.
