The game, explained as simply as possible
Ultimate is played between two teams of seven players on a large rectangular pitch. A line drawn across the pitch at either end creates two "endzones" (like in American Football). These are the goal-scoring areas. A goal is scored when a team completes a pass to a player standing (or more likely running) in the endzone they are attacking.
Players cannot run with the disc. When you get the disc you must come to a stop and try to throw it to another player (a bit like Netball). By passing from player to player, the offense attempts to work the disc up the pitch towards the endzone they are attacking. If the disc hits the ground or is intercepted or knocked down by the other team, then the opposition takes possession (a change of possession is called a "turnover", like American Football). Possession also changes if a receiver is outside the playing area when he or she catches it.
The defending team attempts to stop the team with the disc from making progress up-field by marking them (as in soccer or Basketball). The theory is that the offense won't want to pass to a player who is being marked closely, as it's likely to result in an interception. So it boils down to the offense players trying to get free of their markers to receive a pass, while the defense makes every effort to stay with them in the hope of forcing a turnover.

Fouls and "Spirit of the Game"
Ultimate is essentially non-contact; any contact between players can be declared a foul. There's a variety of other minor violations, but that's the big one.
Ultimate is unique in that it is refereed by the players themselves, even at World Championship level, according to a code of conduct known as "the Spirit of the Game". This places the responsibility for fair play on the players themselves. In that respect, playing Ultimate is a completely different experience to playing other sports. And believe it or not, Ultimate's system of self-refereeing works. Beautifully.
Ultimate Frisbee is played seven on seven on a field slightly smaller than a football field. The goal is to throw the Frisbee to your teammates without dropping the disc. Once you get the disc into the end zone you get a point. However, the person with the disc cannot run with the disc. First to 13 wins. It is actually more competitive than people think.
1. 2 teams
2. played on a field
3. use a Frisbee aka disc
4. must throw off to other team after TD or beginning of game.
5. play to an agreed number (11 or 21)
6. started in Columbia High School, NJ
7. Played inter-scholastically.
8. players must be honest about calls
9. must release disc in 10 secs or less.
10. if person a waits to pick up disc, person b on other team can force person a to start holding the disc
The spirit of the game in ultimate Frisbee is that you follow the rules and play fair. Since there are no referees in ultimate, is is up to the players to call their own fouls and travels. Spirit of the game is that you will not cheat and you will go out their and play fairly. After the game, you will be respectful and not brag or boast.
Double teaming in Ultimate Frisbee is when the handler (person with the disc) is being marked (defended) by two players at once. The rules say only one defender can be within 10 feet of the handler.
Official rules day first one to score 13, unless you have a cap (time limit) on the game.
Disc golf combines the throwing of a frisbee with the mechanics and rules of golf. The idea is to throw the frisbee at a series of target and those with the least amount of throws(or strokes in golf terms) wins.
Ultimate Frisbee is a lot like football. There are two teams comprised of an equal number of players. The game is usually played on a football field so each team begins in their designated endzone (the field canbe shortened by determining the end zones as certain yard lines). One tea begins with the frisbee and yells out ULITMATE! before launching it to the other team (a lot like a kick off). Once a player of the other team has the frisbee they are only allowed to pivot on one leg (they're not permitted to take any steps) from here, they must throw the frisbee to another player on the team. This continues until a member of the team catches the frisbee in the end zone in which that team scores a point and the process starts over. However, if the frisbee is dropped it makes it an automatic recovery for the other team and the game continues, the same with an interception. If a frisbee is thrown out of bounds it is taken up by the other team from where it left the playing field. The game is over when a certain team has reached the designated amount of points (voted prior to the beginning of the game) or a team forfeits.

Walter Morrison and Warren Franscioni invented a version of the first plastic frisbee in 1948. Morrison continued to work on a basic plastic model for the modern frisbee and called it Pluto Platter. He received design patent 183,626 for a flying toy on September 30, 1958.
love is the ultimate reality all else is illusion
The given limit is 3 steps, in a straight line. But if you are moving at considerable speed then it's acceptable that more may be needed, a sporting agreement! However, if you move in an arc or turn as you come to a stop, this is considered traveling and can be called as a foul. In the newest version of the rules there is no established step number, it is a self call but a travel will be called if you go an unreasonable amount of steps, I believe the rules state something like as many steps need to slow to a stop
The standard Outdoor time limit is 10 seconds.Depending on this type of game this may change. For example, indoor rules state that the disc may only be held for 8 seconds.
After Royce Gracie retired the UFC adopted rules.
There are quite a few out there, I don't know them all, but heres a try: ultimate frisbee - similar to American football but players cannot move with the disc and only have a limited number of seconds to throw the disc. hotbox - two boxes are formed (one small inside a larger one), to score a team must first possess the disc outside the large box and then possess the disc inside the small box, following general rules of ultimate. goaltimate - similar to ultimate but with less players and sometimes using nets or a stationary object (such as a tree) to score. disc golf - like golf discs are thrown towards a target and the goal is to reach the target with the least amount of throws. there are various others that im not too familiar with, but can be seen here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_disc_games
