this international match was played at wembley on Wednesday 3rd January 1973. it was played in celebration of united kingdoms entry into the European community and it was the launching of "fanfare for Europe".

the "three" was a team made from Great Britain, republic of Ireland and denmark with sir alf ramsey choosing the team. the six consisted of belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands and West Germany with helmut schoen managing.
