The BCS championship game is the Bowl Championship Series which creates five of the bowl match-ups, including ten of the top ranked teams in the United States.
Several prominent college football programs have never won a BCS Championship, including notable teams like the University of Georgia, the University of Florida State, and the University of Michigan. Despite their storied histories and multiple appearances in major bowl games, these teams have often fallen short in the BCS era, which ran from 1998 to 2013. Other teams, such as the University of Oregon and the University of Kansas State, also sought the title but were unable to secure a championship during that time.
