The University of Georgia first played on Herty Field named after their first head coach, Charles Herty, from 1892-1911. Then they played at Sanford Field, which replaced Herty Field in 1911 and was named after the faculty chairman in athletics, Steadman Sanford, who helped form the Southern and later the Southeastern Conferences. It was then moved to Sanford Stadium at the corner of Sanford Dr and Field St in Athens, GA and holds 92,746.
