It depends on what type or level you're playing. I played in highschool, and although there's not a lot of running during the games, you definitely have to be in good physical shape just like any other sport. Even though there's really no sprinting or distance running, it requires a lot of endurance because the volleys can last really long, especially if the game is competitive. But the hardest part of volleyball is probably the mental strength that is required, making a decision instantly that can possibly cause a win or loss for your team. It also demands good teamwork and chemistry or else you cannot win any points. Overall, I'd say that the physical aspect of it may be a little more laid-back than other sports but the mental strength is essential.
