Of course he's better than Kobe. He was a better scorer, better defender, better in the clutch, had higher field goal %, more athletic, more creative and evolved his game throughout his career.
For those unfortunate souls that never had the chance to watch Michael Jordan in his prime, check out YouTube and watch game footage from his rookie year through 1993. The man was a force unlike anything the league has seen (yes, that includes today). There is no comparison. He was the smoothest, most dominant athlete I've ever seen in organized professional sports.
Certain commentators (yes you, Mark Jackson) with short memories and a tendency to be sensationalistic do the game a disservice and cheapen the "greatest ever" label by making these silly comparisons on an annual basis. I realize it's good for marketing and generates a response, but it's irresponsible. This constant topic: "Can so-and-so be compared to MJ?" needs to be put to bed.
Kobe probably entered himself into the "Top Ten of All Time" discussion by winning a title as the primary guy (no Shaq), but no, he's no Michael Jordan. He patterns his game after Michael Jordan - and you may see stylistic glimpses here and there, but it's a watered down version.

Kobe is definitely a better Basketball player than Michael Jordan. Think about it. Michael has only won 6 championships. KOBE has won 4 championships PLUS scoring the second most highest points in NBA history, which is 81 points in a single game. Sure, Kobe is a ball hog and a bit of a showoff. But, most basketball players are probably like that.
yeah good answer but you cant compare it was completely different back then. Just like any other sports people improve when time does and how good you are. both great players no doubt but you cant predict who would win 1 on 1 now both being the talent at their prime. don't matter how many champion ships u won there team might of been rubbish. Lakers have a good team and backups for when Kobe is injured I'm pretty sure MJ didn't have that on the bench when help was needed.
just my opinion.
Jordan played against better competition and he has six rings compared to Kobe's four. Still, if Kobe had won every Finals he appeared in then he would have six rings. As an overall basketball player I give the edge to Kobe because he is a much better three point shooter than Michael ever was. As for who is better I think the answer is Michael for now!
Ask Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan to play 6 games and see who wins the most games and there you go..... or go back to Google because i know that's where you got this!
