Four times a 15 seed has won their first round game and none of them advanced past the second round of play.
Only in the Women's tournament. It has never happened in the mens tournament. I believe that Stanford was the number one seed at the time, but I cannot remember whom upset them
UNC lost to Weber State, 76-74, in the first round of the 1999 NCAA tournament.

In a single round robin tournament, each player/team competes against every other player/team one time. The formula to determine the total number of matches in a single round robin tournament is n(n-1)/2, where n is the number of players/teams participating in the tournament.
As of now, there are 65 teams in the tournament. Two teams (generally considered to be the worst in the tournament) play an "opening round" game. The winner gets the fourth 16 seed in the first round of the tournament.
Princeton hasn't won a game in the NCAA tournament since 1998 when they beat UNLV in the first round, 69-57.
For this to be true it would mean they lost to a 16 seed 3 years in a row. Number 1 seeds play 16 seeds in the first round of the NCAA tournament. A 16 seed has NEVER won. Not even once much less 3 consecutive years. Never happened in the history of the tournament. This is a ridiculous question..
The #1 seeds are 108-0 against #16 seeds in the NCAA tournament.
Chris Evert was never beaten in the first round of any Grand Slam tournament which she entered
