Following the 9/11 attacks, there was a surge of flag flying, as people sought to display their love for America and their sympathy towards the 9/11 victims and their families. Other examples of patriotic displays included the wearing of lapel flag pins, putting flag decals or magnets on cars, and wearing clothes with flag depictions.

Also caused the people of America to become more united, one example of this is that right after the terrorist attacks many people that was in the vicinity of the attack helped others that was around them instead of running or trying to do what was best for them, it helped the American people come together over a common cause.
