How volleyball is played?

The object of volleyball is to return the ball over the net into the opponents' side of the court, and to have the ball hit the ground in the other team's court, or to go out of bounds off a hit by the opposing team. No player may grab the ball or hit the ball twice in succession, and the maximum number of hits on a side is three. No player may reach over or through the net to hit the ball.

The Order of Play

On the court there are 2 teams. There is 1 captain from each team that meets up with the ref and the ref flips a coin to see who gets the first serve. Whoever has serve serves while the other team tries to play it out. The team that is receiving the serve gets up to 3 hits on the ball. One strategy involves a succession of 3 hits : a "bump", a "set", and a "spike" (a save, set-up, and a sharp hit over the net. More than three hits on a side is automatically the other teams point. The serving team now has their 1 to 3 hits to return it back across the net, to play it out again. The ball goes back and forth until the ball is hit out of bounds or it touches the ground in bounds. The team that does not go out receives 1 point and the next serve. The teams play until one side reaches a predetermined score (usually 25 points, and 15 in best-of-five tiebreakers, as in the Olympics).

some rules to play volleyball are

1)The team courts are surrounded by an area called the free zone which is a minimum of 3 meters wide and which the players may enter and play within after the service of the ball.

2)Each team consists of six players. To get play started, a team is chosen to serve by coin toss.

3)When the ball contacts the floor within the court boundaries or an error is made, the team that did not make the error is awarded a point, whether they served the ball or not.
