The rookie depending on the grade, can fetch upwards of just $300 to $20,000. A PSA 8 for example can fetch $15,000 at a high end auction. Most million airs are looking for rare vintage cards. So you could get $100,000 for one, you just never know.

Really any card that is from a reputable sports card company that was released for his rookie season is legitimate. Some companies tend to be considered better than others for whatever reason and their cards will be more expensive or appreciate in value more quickly. Some companies may release a regular rookie card and an additional commemorative card of limited number etc. For instance the same company may have a regular Sidney Crosby rookie card going for around $200 and a special addition rookie card worth thousands. And these prices are constantly changing by the week or month. Their are several good magazines available in stores that can give you a better idea of current values for different companies.

It depends on the brand of card and the year it came out...His rookie year was 2005-2006. For example if you have his upper deck ice card from that year it is booked at $3500.
