well. you have to play hockey for a really long time and you have to be good. you have to do all the junior league stuff like,ae,a,aa,aaa. once you complete aaa(triple a) than you move on the higher levels and eventually make it in the chl,ahl etc. but you have to be in canada to be in the CHL.

If they were in the CHL (OHL, WHL and QMJHL) then no, due to an agreement between the NHL and the CHL players are restricted to either the CHL or the NHL until they turn 20. If they're coming from college, Europe or the USHL then they can play wherever they want.
