There are ten ways.... I post them according to their frequency of occurence::--- 1. Caught out : A method where the batsman hits the ball with his bat or any part of his hand gripping the bat.... And any of the fielders manages to catch the ball before it touches the ground... 2. Bowled Out : A method where the batsman misses or play the ball onto the stumps and the bails are fully dislodged and fall to the ground 3. Run Out : When a batsman are trying to complete a run and if any of the fielders manages to dislodge the stumps bails before the batsman touch the popping crease.... In this case the bails need not fall to the ground... In case the bails have already been dislodged before you attempt a run out you have to touch the ball to stump and then rip it off from the ground... 4. Leg before Wicket: When the ball strikes any part of the body except for the bat and the umpire is convinced that the ball must have travelled to hit the stumps.... there are certain exception such as .... a ball pitching outside the line of leg stump cannot be adjudged LBW even if it appears to travel and hit the stump... a ball outside the line of off stump can be adjudged leg before only if the batsman didnt attempt to play the ball... Often the cause of most controversial decisions... bcoz of dependency on the umpire's forecast.... 5. Stumped Out : When the wicketkeeper manages to dislodge the bails when the batsman is out of the popping crease while attempting a shot .... much in the same way as a run out.... 6. Hit wicket : When the batsman dislodges the stump by himself while playing a ball or while attempting the first run.... Not applicable when batsman dislodges stumps on the runner's end.... 7. Obstructing the fielder : When a batsman deliberately obstruct a fielder attempting to field the ball... 8. Handled the ball : When the batsman deliberately tries to field the ball without the consent of the fielding team.... Pretty stupid way of getting out 9. Hitting the ball twice: Simple... hit the godammned ball twice and watch the umpire finger's rise.... of course you can hit the ball twice to save the ball from hitting the wicket.... 10. Timed Out: When a batsman is dismissed and the next batsman fails to come to take his position at the field.... usually very frustrating for a batsman witnessing a triple century stand.... will have to be in his pads for the whole day .... looking really stupid..... Anways better sit fully padded up than have the dubious distinction of being the first foolish guy to be timed out.... will be the subject of utter ridicule..... Now some of the dismissal ways are insured against a no-ball... like caught , bowled or lbw or hit wicket ..... but be on your toes for a run out , stumping .... and dont do funny things like ramming into the fielder while he is fielding or trying to hit the ball twice so that it might go for a six..... Finish all daily stuff before the match to avoid unnecessary calls to You-Know-Where....... Take all these precautions and you wont appear like a baboon brandishing a stick......
