Magic Johnson's theaters was a 50/50 joint venture with Loews theaters and was acquired by loews cineplex during the 2001 bankruptcy reorganization plan. The Johnson Development Corporation is paid for the use of the name on the remaining locations.

He did own a share in a couple, but just because you own a share in Apple Computers does not mean you own the company. Of course he acted in a great many theatres, most of which he did not have any interest in at all.
