Wilt played two seasons with the University of Kansas Jayhawks. Both seasons the Jayhawks won the Big 7 Championship and in 1956-1957 season, the Jayhawks played the University of North Carolina in the National Championship game. In one of the greatest games in NCAA Final Four history, the Tarheels defeated the Jayhawks 54-53 in triple overtime. The Jayhawks did not make the NCAA tournament in Wilt's second year. He decided to turn pro after his junior year but could not play in the NBA because the NBA did not accept players that had not finished their four years of college.
