All teams must have a squad of 30 players.

However, if a player is to be injured to the extent of not playing again in the RWC, the teams management can get approval from the IRB to bring in another player to replace the injured one. :) hope this helps.

15 players start on the field from each team playing. There are 8 forwards that pack into the scrum then 7 backs from the number 9, the half back who feeds the ball into the scrum then out in either direction.

Normally the coach will be expected to list some 31 players and have a reserve pool to cover issues of injury

Rugby League, 13 players each side (with 4 substitutes). Rugby Union, 15 players each side (with 7 substitutes).
