Bear in mind that the NCAA has never officially recognized a champion in FBS College Football, so the "champions" are named by independent selection committees who often disagree with each other.

Having said that, the University of Pittsburgh claims football championships in nine seasons: 1915, 1916, 1918, 1929, 1931, 1934, 1936, 1937 and 1976.

They were also chosen as champions by at least one major selector in 1910, 1980 and 1981.

In Basketball, zero, although they won two pre-NCAA tournament national titles in 1928 and 1930.
In football, they claim nine, however, only one of those is since 1940.
