Seven Innings, unless of course the game is tied and then it is played until there is a complete inning played, in which the visitor's team is ahead or home team has scored one additional run.
A normal softball game in the NCAA is seven innings. In order to meet the requirements for an official NCAA softball game, the game must finish five full innings if it has been stopped due to rain. This means that both the home and away teams must be both at bat and on the field five times. Another way for the game to become official is for the home team to be ahead by eight runs after five innings have been played.
There are 6 outs per inning and there are 7 innings in one complete game. Do the math 6x7= 42
If a game is tied at the end of regulation innings (9 innings in the MLB), the game will continue for as many innings as necessary until there is a winner. However, local leagues may set maximum innings or time limits.
MLB consists of 9 innings, more if needed to determine a winner, less if non post season game and inclement weather delays the game.
