There are 11 players on offense and defense, each. Teams can vary how many of each position they play with, but here is the normal line up.
OFFENSE 1 Quarterback - The guy that throws the passes or hands the ball to the RB 1 Running back - Usually a fast strong that runs the ball 1 Full back - Lines up in front of the running back and blocks defenders 2 Wide Receivers - Usually fast little guys that catch the passes from the QB 1 Tight End - A big guy that catches some short passes and also blocks the Def 5 Offensive Linemen - These are the biggest guys and they block the defenders.
DEFENSE 4 Defensive Linemen - These big guys fight with the Offensive Linemen 3 Linebackers - These guys stand behind the DL and tackle the Running back 4 Defensive Backs - These guys usually guard the wide receivers.
