This figure is impossible to determine for a number of reasons:

• Written records for every civilization from day one simply do not exist
• Even in current, modern times, many civilisations and groups of people do not keep written records of deaths (or births)
• It would be impossible to categorise deaths that occur through stillbirths and miscarriages
• It cannot be known when/if people listed as "missing" have died, or vice versa
