Toni Basil and Paula Abdul were both cheerleaders.
The Steelers only had one cheerleading squad, 'The Steelerettes', from 1961-1969.
cheerleading is definitely a sport. the definition of sport is anything that has competition to it. plus cheerleaders can get hurt just as bad as football players. in football if you miss a catch all you miss is da ball...but in cheerleading if you miss a catch den you miss da athlete. now which one sounds more dangerous????????? and when football players get tackled dey have pads on and stuff. cheerleaders dont have anything but their uniforms are. cheerleading is actually very dangerous. cheerleading is definitely a sport. the definition of sport is anything that has competition to it. plus cheerleaders can get hurt just as bad as football players. in football if you miss a catch all you miss is da ball...but in cheerleading if you miss a catch den you miss da athlete. now which one sounds more dangerous????????? and when football players get tackled dey have pads on and stuff. cheerleaders dont have anything but their uniforms are. cheerleading is actually very dangerous.
The Rooney family is classy. I can't find a reason but at one time they did. They were called the Steelerettes (steelerettes.com) and were a squad chosen from a local junior college. Once the junior college had their own football team, the Steelerettes disbanded. They were the official squad from 1961-1970. The Steelers were actually one of the first teams to ever have cheerleaders. They were named (are you ready for this?) The Steelerettes. How clever. They were basically a gimmick created to take attention away from how awful the team was. The squad only stuck around for about 8 years (61-69) before they were disbanded. As for why they don't have a squad now, can you imagine trying to find a group of attractive women who would be willing to bounce around in short skirts in the middle of December in Pittsburgh? They'd have to be crazy.
well cheerleading has to be organized because their are different parts to the routine that go on. If you just have cheerleaders running around on the floor nobody for one will get to their place on the right count and for two their are less injuries.
Well, depends on the type of cheerleading it is. If it is competition cheerleading (Allstar) then you JUST go to competitions. Then sideline cheerleading is when cheerleaders cheer on the sidelines at a sports event. even though we do not always need cheerleaders, cheerleading is fun.AnswerI am a competitive cheerleader. Its very hard core and costs alot of money. I actually just went to Nationals in Illinois (wish it was in Florida or something) and my team MJFL Stallions placed 1st! Ok to answer the first comment the first person made, i do agree that the sports don't always need the cheerleaders but if no one in the crowd is say "LETS GO" "or "WAY TO GO!" or somthing like that, it kind of is disappointing to the football or basketball players if no one screams anything if they get points or win the game!
You need balance to perform one legged stunts such as a liberty and especially a heel stretch and Scorpian
Depending on what kind of cheerleading your in, will decide that for you. Middle school teams usually only have one. High school teams usually have anywhere from 2-5. College usually have three or so. Competitive usually have one.
It depend on what school you cheer for. Usually students can't be in band because it would interfere with cheerleading. Some schools only allow you to be in one activity at a time.
There is no specific or current information available on the exact number of cheerleaders worldwide. The number can vary greatly depending on the region, level of competition, and type of cheerleading (e.g., professional, school, recreational).
Cheerleading, one word.
