According to The Tallahasee Online, an average ball only last 6 pitches and the average game runs 250-300 pitches for 40-50 balls per game. The Baseball Propectus web site quoting Keith Wolley states the average game has 77 batters so that tells us the average ball last for 1-2 batters.

In MLB games, every time a baseball is put into play, (hit, bunt etc.) a new ball is used. On average, teams collect 10 hits per game. Multiply that by 2 and you get 20 balls. Then there are foul balls (a few every at-bat), which may add up to close to 50 over the course of a game. There are also pitches in the dirt. Pitchers at the pro level are extremely spoiled and won't use a ball if it has touched the dirt. Close to 100 balls may be replaced because of this throughout a game. All together, probably close to 200 balls are used in each MLB game. Hope this helps you!
usually about six Answered by User:Loveubabie466, i also depends on how many ball get 'out' (of the playing field) then instead of running after the ball they'll just throw a new one in. But yes this happens aprox. 6 times a game! : ) Answered by Pink bubble gum
