For each team there are 11 players on the field for every play. Teams are allowed to field less, and if they do so they won't be penalized. This usually doesn't result in an outcome they desire though and most would recommend against it. They're not allowed to field more, however. 11 players from each team is the count that is supposed to be present for every play.

Typically an NFL team will have 3 quarterbacks on their roster, however there some cases where a team may just want 2 qbs or even have 4 on their roster.

In College Football, because of the recruiting teams will make, there are about 4 or 5 quarterbacks on each roster.

well when you are talking about football their are only 2 quarterbacks on the Field at once: you have the offense and the defense. that being said their is also two more sitting on the bench just in cause something was to happen to the quarterback who is playing

If you mean football as in soccer, then there are 11 players on the field for each team. In total there are 22 players.

About five quarterbacks have always played in the National Football League. The most common are names like Brett Farve and Denver Broncos with several wins.
