Minnesota has been in four Super Bowls. Their first was Super Bowl IV against Kansas City Chiefs (L 23-7), then Super Bowl VIII against the Miami Dolphins (L 24-7). They played the Pittsburgh Steelers in SB IX (L 16-6), and finally against the Oakland Raiders in SB XI and lost 32-14. The year in between SB's IX and XI (1975), Minnesota lost to the Dallas Cowboys in the infamous "Hail Mary" game. Chances are the had the Vikings won that game they would have been the first team to go to 4 straight SB's, a feat later achieved by the Buffalo Bills, who ironically, are 0-4 as well. What most people do not know is that Fran Tarkenton was the QB in 3 of those SB's not all four. The starting QB for Minnesota in SB IV against KC was Joe Kapp.
