Hasek played in four games in the 2008 playoffs, all of them in the first round against the Nashville Predators. He won the first two games of the series in Detroit, allowing only three total goals. Hasek did not perform as well in Game 3 as he gave up five goals in a loss. During Game 4, a 3-2 loss, Chris Osgood took over for Hasek, who did not play for the remainder of the playoffs. The move would prove to be pivotal as Osgood would help lead the team to its 11th Stanley Cup in franchise history.
He has had exactly 2, both with the Detroit Red Wings. The first was in 2002, following which he retired. The second was in 2008, following which he retired again. Additionally, he has 6 Vezina trophies (best goalie in the NHL that season) which is second behind Plante who had 7.
Hasek was the first European goalie to win the Vezina as well as the first European goalie to win the Stanley Cup. He is from the Czech Republic.
