NCAA Division III is made up of 444 member institutions. It is the largest NCAA division. It has more participants (about 170,000 student-athletes) and number of schools than any other NCAA division. There are 413 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball teams and 434 Women's teams.

There are 250 teams in Division III of College Football. However, Division III does not get much attention, and typically only Division I gets shown on television.

D2 Football is Division 2 championship. They usually create a second division for when they very many teams. Usually teams are put into the second division because they were relegated or promoted. An example of this is the NPower Championship, where the bottom 3 teams are relegated from the Premier League and put into the second division. Cheers

At the end of the regular season, the winners of the 3 divisions in each league go on to the playoffs. Of the REMAINING teams in each league, the 2 teams with the best records are the WILD CARD teams. Each league has a Wild Card Playoff Game, from which the winner goes on to play one of the 3 division winners in the League Division Series.

During a game last week I heard that Memphis was on of the worst free throw shooting teams in NCAA 1Aa basketball at # 334 with only 7 worse meaning there is 341.
