Well first off it usually depends on the position, player height, speed, playing style and so fourth. GK's can play up to around there mid to late 30's and same with defenders. Now midfielders have a shorter playing time retiring usually in there early 30's due to the fact that they have to run longer distances and stride length deteriorates with age. Strikers play to about 30 years of age before their form deteriorates drastically because the have to jump a lot for heading and speed also plays a crucial role in the players success. This is for the average professional, some players whom are more resourceful or have a unique physical characteristics (Crouch is an example) can play significantly longer than the average player such examples are Inzaghi, Romario, Giggs and many others.

I hope this helped!
